In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission, a team of 10 LEGO masters built a 6 feet 3 inches tall astronaut model. It was on display as a part of Apollo 50 celebration. Apollo 11 was the spaceflight that landed on the Moon for the first time. After eight-long days, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins reached the moon and make it back into one piece. As a tribute to these astronauts, people all around the world especially america celebrates Apollo 11 moon-landing on every 20th of July.
This year it was the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing. So LEGO decided to pay homage to these renowned astronauts by constructing a 6 feet, 3 inches tall Lego spacesuit of the astronaut Aldrin. The life-size model was displayed at the Apollo 50 Festival. It was hosted by NASA and the Smithsonian to inspire the future generation of space explorers.
It took nearly 300 hours, 44,051 Lego blocks and a team of 10 Lego masters to build the Apollo 11 spacesuit. By their keen observation of the Aldrin moon walking photos, they have constructed a detailed model. It even includes the American flag and moon dust on the spacesuit.
