In celebration of Baba Guru Nanak’s 550th birthday and Pakistan’s inauguration of Kartarpur corridor Sukhpal Singh Bedi has donated his 900 square foot land.
Earlier this month, Pakistan inaugurated the Kartarpur Corridor for the Sikh community on the 550th anniversary Baba Guru Nanak. The corridor was formally inaugurated by Prime Minister Imran Khan on Nov 9. The gesture won hearts of the Sikh community globally.
Bedi is a 70 year old Indian Sikh merchant and social activist, a resident of Purkazi Town in Muzaffarnagar district in the Uttar Pradesh. He has donated 900 square feet land for the construction of a masjid by handing over the documents of the land to the Nagar Panchayat Chairman, Zahir Farooqui. Farooqui thanked Bedi on behalf of the Muslim community for his gracious act.
“In my least authority, I am owing to prevail the teachings of love and peace of Baba Guru Nanak Deve Je…this is a gesture of tribute to Baba Guru Nanak’s teachings”. Bedi said.
He added that he hopes his gesture will foster brotherhood among the communities. People from both the communities welcomed the initiative as a step to foster communal union in the area.
