Video-sharing app Tik Tok is one of the most downloaded app in the world. The App is currently working on several new features including a Discover page, a grid-like feed layout that seem to have been inspired by a social media app Instagram which is now owned by Facebook.

For those who don’t know what Tik Tok is, It is an app for making and sharing short videos where you navigate through videos by scrolling up and down, like a feed. The app user has the ability to add filter on their videos like snapchat, search for sounds to score your video. You can engage with other Tik Tok users aswell, through “response” videos or by means of “duets”. In duets you can duplicate videos and add yourself alongside. You can also use Hashtags to reach the maximum audience.

The new instagram-like-features were spotted by Jane Manchun Wong when she shared screenshots of these new feature to her Twitter account. The app is also testing other interesting features such as Facebook and Google account linking, the capacity to send videos to a specific WhatsApp contact, as well as an account switch feature to enable users to switch between various profiles.

According to Wong, TikTok is exploring a “liked by creator” tag on comments, a feature to display download numbers on videos, as well as a feature to display the number of likes on content from the Sound and Hashtag page.

One of TikTok’s algorithmically produced “For You” page is the most significant change spotted by Wong. Today, in a vertical feed-style format, consumers flip through each video on this page, one by one. Instead, the updated version provides a grid-style design that looks more like the Explore page of Instagram.

A TikTok spokesperson confirmed the news but didn’t discuss the feature in details, He said:

“We’re always experimenting with new ways to improve the app experience for our community”
